NYC Getaway - Train Ride and Today Show

Last year was our 10 year anniversary.  It was 8 days before Hayden was born so we went to out to a nice dinner but that was about it.  We said when Hayden was a year old, we would take a much needed weekend away.

Lucky for us, Bryce's parents retired earlier this year and have been more available to help watch the kids so we can get away every once in a while.

Neither of us had even been to NYC so we thought it was a great opportunity to visit while we were living less than 200 miles away.

We took the high speed train to NYC (Acela Express).  It was less than 3 hours from Union Station in DC to Penn Station in NYC.  We had a nice breakfast and were able to relax and enjoy the scenery.

It was a (very) early train, so we arrived in NYC just before 8 am on a Friday.  We were surprised at how cold we were!  Less than 200 miles North, but much cooler than when we left DC.

On board the Acela and ready to go.

We were in Business/First on the train and were served breakfast.
During both of my 6-month maternity leaves, I routinely watched the TODAY show in the mornings.  So, we had to go visit!  We arrived at about 9 am and got on TV as the camera panned the crowd after a commercial.  Bryce's parents recorded it and showed it to Isaac.  He thought it was awesome to see his parents on TV.  Yeah, I totally geeked out too.  :)
