NYC Getaway - Battery Park, Italian Dinner and Cake Boss

After we were finished at the 9/11 Memorial, we spent some more time in Lower Manhattan by visiting Battery Park.  We had a delish lunch and just walked along the boardwalk taking in the views of New Jersey and the Statue of Liberty.  We didn't have time to take the ferry to Ellis Island, but had pretty good views from the shore.

We navigated NYC by the subway system.  We heard varying comments about the difficulty of using the system, but luckily we had no trouble at all.  Perhaps it's because we are already familiar with the metro from living in DC, but regardless it was a great way to scoot around town.

That night, we left our hotel in search of dinner.  We were both really hungry so decided on an Italian restaurant near our hotel that received a good rating on Zagat.  It was really good!  We shared a nice bottle of wine, Bryce had gnocchi and I had lasagna.

After dinner, we went back to the hotel and despite having just eaten a large dinner, I was craving dessert.  Bryce left the hotel at 9pm and went in search of something yummy.  About 30 minutes later he returned with a mini red velvet cake from Cake Boss.  Yummo!
