Trip to Houston - New House!

We love just about everything about Virginia and I am very sad to know we are leaving in about 10 months.  I have grown to love our house in VA as well, especially now that it's fixed up.

As I've said in multiple posts before, if it is within our control, we will never ever own another money-pit fixer-upper again.  Since we were notified of our move well in advance, we decided to go ahead and do the complete opposite of a fixer upper... we decided to build a new house!

The first time we lived in Houston, we live on the South side which is near the water.  This time, we will live on the North side which has a completely different feel!  It reminds us of Virginia with the exception of the hot weather.

We settled on a new neighborhood in The Woodlands.  It is amazing and very different from League City which is crazy since they are both Houston suburbs.  The pine trees line the roads and are so thick you can't see what is behind them.  Seriously, there are grocery stores, gas stations, churches, etc... and the only reason you know they are there are a small stone sign by the road.

When we pulled into our neighborhood, 2 deer were scampering down the street and several cardinals were chirping near the model home.  It was picture perfect and we knew immediately this would be our home.  We kept looking for another day and a half just to make sure, but kept on returning to The Woodlands.  It's really all it's cracked up to be!

We got the last large lot in the neighborhood and will half just under 1/2 an acre.  The backyard will be even a little bigger than our backyard in VA (which we think is great!).  The larger trees on our lot will be left, so they will provide a little shade.

The house will be ~3,400 sq ft (builder is Darling Homes), is a 2-story and will have 4 BR + Study.  The houses are fairly long and narrow, so they look pretty small from the front!  The builder is semi-custom, so we have made a few alterations to the floor plan to accommodate our needs/style preference.

It will be finished ~May/June next year which is just in time for our relocation.  Looking forward to a beautiful, new house does make the move back to Texas a little easier.  :)

The house is 100% brick with exception of some stone on the front.
